Finally, an exciting shot at half time:

Off to Portsmouth
April 3, 2010Off to see Pompey play this afternoon, for the first time this season. We’re not relegated mathematically just yet, but that could happen today.
There’s some sort of party/protest planned before the match as it’s the 112th anniversary of the founding of the club, so I might see what that’s about.
Also,if there’s time, and the weather’s OK, I might visit Edgeware Road and take pictures of No. 14, where we used to live, and 35, where Grandma and Grandad were.
another test post
April 2, 2010Composed on the Nokia N810 this time, with WordPy.

Ju’s new car.
Another new phone
April 2, 2010Writing this on my latest new phone, a Nokia 5800. This replaces the E51, which in turn superseded the 5410i the last post was about, just over two years ago.
Edited to add: I’ve just remembered that there was a Nokia 5500 between the 5410i and the E51.
New phone
October 21, 2006As my 6310i is 3 years old, and showing signs of wear (the vibrate mechanism is broken and rattling around inside), I bought a Nokia 5410i on ebay. This was featured on The Gadget Show as being nearly indestructible (it didn’t quite survive the shotgun test).
Not sure yet if it will work out as a replacement; it doesn’t have Bluetooth, and doesn’t fit the car kit, and I need to get the GPRS configuration set up. On the other hand, it does have a whole lot of toys built in (radio, compass, spirit level, volume meter, torch, camera, as well as more usual things like a calculator)
I did think it might be possible to operate both handsets, using the 6310i for the car or when Bluetooth is needed (mainly for providing a data source for my iPAQ), but it appears that removing the SIM from the 5410i resets the clock and compass. Not sure if that indicates a fault, since the 6310i doesn’t do this.
Rear wheel removal
October 21, 2006Finally got new spokes for the rear wheel of the Brompton, which somehow developed two broken spokes and a flat tyre on the way to work without me noticing.
Wheel removal is not straightforward, due mainly to the hub gears, and also a little to the folding.
Also treated myself to bar-ends.
New dog
